The Interministerial Committee for European Affairs (CIAE) was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by the President of the Council of Ministers, Giuseppe Conte, and convened by the Minister for European Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola.
The Committee agreed upon guidelines for defining of the National Reform and Resilience Plan (Italy’s PNRR). The document sets out the challenges, missions and actions of the plan for Italy's recovery, through the Next Generation EU Fund, aiming to achieve the "twin" green and digital transitions in Italy and Europe, and increasing competitiveness, social inclusion and economic growth after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
The guidelines will underlie a detailed discussion with the Italian Parliament and the European Commission to present the National Recovery and Resilience Plan as of January 2021, in line with the timetable set by the EU. "We will not waste a historic opportunity to relaunch our Country", Minister Amendola declared upon conclusion of the Committee meeting session.
The Committee, furthermore, discussed the Conference on the Future of Europe and the forthcoming presentation of the new European Pact on Migration and Asylum.
